Warsaw as the Capital of Global Collage 2026

The International Collage Exhibition will take place from 9th July to 23rd August 2026 at the Dobra Gallery of the University of Warsaw Library.

The event will feature 74 artists from 24 countries, representing a wide range of contemporary collage practices — from traditional analog techniques to experimental approaches combining graphic art, photography, and conceptual practices. The project is non-commercial, educational, and research-oriented, serving as a platform for international exchange of ideas and dialogue between artistic and academic communities. Numerous artists from around the world have already confirmed their participation in the opening, giving the event a truly international character.

The exhibition, curated by Dr. Anna Kłos, has been granted honorary patronage by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland. Official partners of the project include, among others, the Embassy of Spain, the Embassy of Argentina, the Embassy of Brazil, the Czech Centre in Warsaw, and the Spanish Museo del Grabado. In 2027–2028, the exhibition is planned to be presented in selected European museums.

An integral part of the project will be a 240-page English-language publication presenting contemporary collage art and the work of 50 artists from around the world. The book will be distributed to museums, libraries, and cultural institutions across Poland and Europe.

The exhibition is accompanied by a 240-page English-language publication authored by Dr. Anna Kłos, dedicated to international contemporary collage art.

The volume presents the work of 50 outstanding contemporary collage artists.

About the Author

Anna Kłos—artist, curator, and researcher—has been actively shaping the international collage scene for more than two decades, combining artistic practice with theoretical research and academic teaching.

She earned her PhD in Fine Arts in 2007 with a dissertation devoted to Dadaist collage, which laid the foundation for her expertise in the field.

As the founder of the international project Retroavangarda, she has organized some of the largest collage exhibitions in Europe, collaborating with artists from around the world.

Modern Collage is the result of many years of research, curatorial experience, and artistic practice, offering a unique perspective on contemporary collage as a global artistic phenomenon.

La Exposición Internacional de Collage se celebrará del 9 de julio al 23 de agosto de 2026 en la Galería Dobra de la Biblioteca de la Universidad de Varsovia.

El evento contará con la participación de 74 artistas de 24 países, que representan una amplia diversidad de prácticas contemporáneas del collage —desde técnicas analógicas tradicionales hasta enfoques experimentales que combinan artes gráficas, fotografía y prácticas conceptuales. El proyecto tiene un carácter no comercial, educativo y de investigación, y constituye una plataforma para el intercambio internacional de ideas y el diálogo entre los ámbitos artístico y académico. Numerosos artistas de distintas partes del mundo ya han confirmado su participación en la inauguración, lo que otorga al evento un carácter verdaderamente internacional.

La exposición, comisariada por la Dra. Anna Kłos, ha sido distinguida con el patrocinio honorífico del Ministerio de Cultura y Patrimonio Nacional de la República de Polonia. Entre los socios oficiales del proyecto se encuentran, entre otros, la Embajada de España, la Embajada de Argentina, la Embajada de Brasil, el Centro Checo en Varsovia y el Museo del Grabado de España. Entre 2027 y 2028 está prevista su presentación en museos europeos seleccionados.

Una parte integral del proyecto será una publicación de 240 páginas en inglés que presenta el arte contemporáneo del collage y el trabajo de 50 artistas de todo el mundo. El libro será distribuido a museos, bibliotecas e instituciones culturales en Polonia y Europa.
